IMPORTANTE!!!

·         O verbo to be significa ser/estar em inglês.
·         Não se usa o auxiliar DID para formar a negativa e a interrogativa, pois o próprio verbo to be funciona como auxiliar.
·         Para formar a interrogativa, o verbo to be vai para o início da frase.
·         Para formar a negativa, usa-se a forma negativa do verbo to be:
·         Wasn’t ( ou was not) / weren’t ( ou were not)

SIMPLE PAST TENSE:  REGULAR VERBS

Os verbos regulares formam o passado acrescentando ED ao infinitivo.

Work – worked
Stay – stayed
Clean – cleaned
Arrive – arrived
Start – started
Dance – danced

· This morning I cleaned my teeth.
· Terry worked in a bank from 1980 to 1990
· Yesterday it rained all morning. It stopped at lunchtime.



Regras para a formação do passado nos verbos regulares



·         regra geral: Para se formar o passado dos verbos regulares acrescenta-se –ed ao verbo:     talk – talked                       like - liked                         want - wanted

·         Se o verbo terminar com a letra –e, acrescenta-se apenas o –d:
Love – loved                            Change- changed                            Decide – decided

·         Se o verbo terminar em y, você deve observar qual a letra que o antecede:

-          Se for uma vogal, mantém-se o y e apenas acrescenta-se o –ed
Play – played            Destroy – destroyed

-          se for uma consoante, troca-se o -y por –ied:
carry – carried         study – studied               hurry - hurried

·         Verbos terminados em Consoante+vogal+consonate (CVC):

-          monossílabos (apenas uma sílaba) dobram a última consoante antes de receber –ed:
stop – stopped                        rob: robbed                      drop: dropped
